Dale/Morris relocating to historic building
MISSISSIPPI BUSINESS JOURNAL
BILOXI -- Dale/Morris Architects, PLLC, plans to relocate from its 994 Howard Avenue office to a new location at 750 Howard Avenue inside Biloxi's central business district Vieux Marche.
The new office will open by the end of 2007 and provides Dale/Morris with closer proximity to businesses, government entities, restaurants and retail establishments located in the business district.
"As a key player in the redevelopment of Biloxi, our original intent was to be located in the central business district, and we were waiting for the right opportunity," said Doug Dale, AIA, president of Dale & Associates Architects. "We feel that our move to this location will allow us to better serve our clients and offers greater accessibility and visibility of Dale/Morris Architects."
Built in 1896, the historic 750 Howard Avenue building was the main office of the Peoples Bank of Biloxi. W.T. Harkness designed and constructed the bank for only $7,000. Per the specifications, the tower roof was covered with copper Spanish-type tile and topped by an ornamental copper weathervane. Ellzey's Hardware Company moved in 1924 when the bank outgrew the space.
Dale/Morris' new office space will be on the second floor of the building and will increase the firm's space by roughly 2,000 square feet.
